About PSRW
City of Houston praises public servants with PSRW the first week of May
Government employees often perform at a high level and do important work in obscurity. The City of Houston will shine a spotlight on its outstanding workforce of public servants through events held as part of its annual Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW).
Celebrated nationwide the first full week of May since 1985, PSRW honors the contributions of federal, state, county and local employees who work to make communities better places to live. The week also highlights the broad range of services government provides and offers an opportunity to express appreciation to those who help ensure effective government.
Through these events:
- Americans learn about the services performed by public employees.
- Officials and citizens recognize these employees for their work.
- Others are encouraged to consider a career in public service.
Public employees also connect with their communities through festivals, open houses, parades, clean-up days, recognition ceremonies and contests.
